On the 14th and 15th of October 2020, Girl2Girl Empowerment Movement (G2G) conducted a two (2) days training on Social Norm. This training was to examine FGM as a social norm, understanding what a social norm is and its relationship to tradition and culture. The training shed light on what could be done to effect social norm change in relation to FGM. Twenty- six (26) of G2G network members across from the eight (8) operational communities were trained including the Board members at Hotel 5/10. The training was supported and funded by AmplifyChange.
In the training, FGM initiates shares their stories on how they were deceived and initiated and how painful it was. The training was mainly organized for participants to reach out to other people in their various communities and reciprocate the negative effects of FGM.
